The Hunting Spring Jar is designed to impact a very high impact load to a tool string without excessive jarring action
With a reasonably short tool string, an upward pull on the wireline compresses the jar spring until such time as the inner ring has moved up enough to allow the balls to move in from the external ring allowing the jar to ‘fire’.
Applications
Spring Jars provide an upward jarring action and are commonly run with mechanical jars on either standard intervention operations, or fishing operations.
Spring jars are run above the mechanical jars and below the stem
